Student moves for LSE

from £120

Every figure includes VAT.

LSE is compact where it teaches and scattered where it sleeps. The campus is a few streets around Houghton Street off the Aldwych, and the halls run from Bankside House behind Tate Modern to Rosebery in Clerkenwell and Passfield in Bloomsbury. Nearly every LSE move crosses the river or the City in one direction or the other.

A campus you cannot drive to

Houghton Street is pedestrianised and the streets around it are some of the busiest in central London. Nobody unloads at the LSE campus, and that is fine because almost nobody lives there. The moves are hall to hall, hall to flat, or hall to airport.

What that does mean is that a mid-term move between halls is two constrained addresses rather than one, and both need a stop planned before the day rather than found on it.

Bankside is the one that dominates

At 595 rooms, Bankside House is where most LSE moving happens, and it has its own page here with the Sumner Street detail on it. The rest of the estate is smaller and easier: Rosebery in Clerkenwell, Passfield in Bloomsbury, Carr-Saunders in Fitzrovia.

If you are at Bankside, read that page. If you are anywhere else, the ordinary Central London rules apply and the area page for your postcode is more use than anything specific to LSE.

Worth knowing

  • Nobody unloads on Houghton Street, so plan the hall end rather than the campus end
  • If you are at Bankside House, use its page: 595 rooms behave differently from 100
  • Mid-term hall moves need both ends planned, not just the one you are leaving
  • LSE contracts end within days of each other, so June books out fast

LSE: common questions

How much is a student move for LSE?

A single room within London is £150 to £340 including VAT, most around £220, covering the crew, the van, the wrapping, the fuel and the Congestion Charge.

Can you unload at the LSE campus?

No, and you will not need to. Houghton Street is pedestrianised and the surrounding roads are among the busiest in central London. LSE moves run between halls, flats and airports rather than to the campus itself.

Which LSE hall do most of your jobs come from?

Bankside House, by a wide margin, because it is 595 rooms in one building. It has its own page here covering the Sumner Street loading and the arrival weekend.

Do you do the airport run at the end of term?

Yes, £120 to £260 to Heathrow or Gatwick with the drive built in. LSE has a large international intake and this is a substantial part of what we do for it every June.

Send the two addresses and the floor at each end and we will come back with a fixed price, usually within a couple of hours. No site visit needed for most jobs.
