Man and Van in Old Street
Covering EC1V, EC2A in Islington and Hackney. Tech offices, warehouse flats and co-working space around the roundabout. Fixed price agreed before we start, with the parking, the lift and the access sorted in advance.
Old Street is where a lot of small companies move in, outgrow the space, and move again eighteen months later. That churn is most of our commercial work here: desks, monitors, server cabinets and the contents of a kitchen, going four streets over into a slightly bigger floor.
The roundabout itself has been rebuilt and the traffic arrangements around it have changed more than once. Approaches that worked before do not necessarily work now, so we check the current layout rather than trusting a route from memory.
The buildings in Old Street
Warehouse conversions dominate the residential side, with open floors, shared goods lifts and the slow loading that implies. There are newer apartment blocks along City Road with conventional service access. Above the commercial units on Old Street itself there are flats reached by narrow street door staircases. Co-working buildings have their own contractor access rules.
Parking, loading and access in Old Street
The area straddles the Congestion Charge boundary, which runs along City Road, so addresses to the south are inside the zone and those north are outside. Old Street and City Road are red routes. Islington and Hackney both cover parts of EC1V and EC2A. Loading happens on the side streets such as Bath Street, Leonard Street and Tabernacle Street. Co-working and managed office buildings usually require a booked goods lift slot and proof of insurance.

Man and van in Old Street: common questions
We are outgrowing our floor. Can you move us at a weekend?
Yes, and around Old Street it usually works better. Weekday loading on the main roads is difficult and most managed buildings release the goods lift more readily at a weekend. Book earlier for weekend slots because there are fewer of them.
Do you move IT equipment and server cabinets?
Yes. Monitors and machines travel wrapped and boxed rather than loose, and cabinets go on a proper trolley with the contents secured. We do not decommission or recable, so have your IT people handle the disconnection and reconnection at either end.
Does the Congestion Charge apply on my side of City Road?
It depends which side of City Road you are on. South is inside the zone, north is outside. Send the postcode and we will confirm, and the charge is included in the quote where it applies.
