Man and Van in Kensington
Covering W8 in Kensington and Chelsea. Mansion blocks, mews houses and garden square flats in W8. Fixed price agreed before we start, with the parking, the lift and the access sorted in advance.
Kensington is comfortable to move in by central London standards. The mansion blocks off Kensington High Street have lifts and porters, the streets are wide enough to load on, and it sits outside the Congestion Charge zone. The complications are specific rather than general.
Those complications are the mews and the garden squares. The mews off Kensington Church Street and around Victoria Road are narrow and several will not take a full size van. The garden square addresses have communal gardens between the road and the door, which lengthens the carry more than a map suggests.
The buildings in Kensington
Red brick mansion blocks around Kensington High Street and Earls Court Road make up a large share, most with a lift and a porter. The stucco terraces on the garden squares are converted into flats with the original staircase. The mews houses are the third type, compact and vertical with a garage below. Newer blocks near the High Street have proper service access.
Parking, loading and access in Kensington
Kensington sits outside the Congestion Charge zone. Kensington High Street and Kensington Road are red routes, so loading happens on the residential turnings such as Argyll Road, Phillimore Gardens and Victoria Road. Kensington and Chelsea controls the parking and bays are permit-heavy on weekdays. Mews access needs checking address by address. Where a mansion block has a service entrance we will use it rather than the front lobby.

Man and van in Kensington: common questions
Is Kensington in the Congestion Charge zone?
No. W8 sits outside the zone, which makes moves within Kensington cheaper than equivalent jobs in the centre. If one end of your move is inside the zone the charge applies to that leg and is already included in our price.
My address is on a garden square. Where will you park?
On the road at the nearest point to your door, which on a garden square can still be a reasonable walk. The communal garden sits between the carriageway and the houses on several of them. We factor the carry into the quote so it does not become an extra.
Can you get into the mews off Kensington Church Street?
Some of them, not all. Several are too narrow for a Luton and one or two have restricted entrances. Give us the mews name and we will bring a vehicle that fits, usually a smaller van with an extra run.
