Halls on campus, which almost nowhere else has
Chapman, Creed Court, Feilden, Lynden, Maurice Court, Pooley and Varey are all on the Mile End site. That means the van goes onto campus rather than onto a public street, the college runs the arrival weekend on its own ground, and there is no Camden or Westminster parking regime to work around.
It is genuinely the easiest large arrival in London. What it does mean is that campus security runs the access, so the arrival slot and the vehicle permit matter more than the parking does.
The other campuses are ordinary London
Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square are Tower Hamlets and City of London respectively, and both behave like any other central address: controlled parking, no loading bay, plan a legal stop.
If you are at Mile End the campus rules apply. Anywhere else and the area page for your postcode is more useful.
Worth knowing
- Get the campus vehicle permit or arrival slot sorted before the day, since security runs the access
- Mile End is the easiest London arrival there is, so a normal slot is fine here
- Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square are ordinary central addresses, not campus ones

A single room within London is £150 to £340 including VAT, most around £220. Mile End is further east than the rest of the university addresses on this site, which puts a move from central London at the upper end of the band.
Is it easier to move into Queen Mary than other London universities?
Yes, noticeably. The halls are on the Mile End campus rather than spread across public streets, so there is a site road and somewhere to stop. Campus security and the arrival permit matter more than parking does.
Do you need a permit to drive onto the Mile End campus?
On arrival weekend the college runs the access and issues slots, and outside it security will usually direct you. It is worth checking with the accommodation office before the day rather than arriving at a barrier.
What about the Whitechapel campus?
