We are the option between a courier who will not carry anything past the front door and a full removals firm booked for a move that never needed one.
A normal week runs from a studio flat coming down four flights in Soho, to a marketplace sofa going into a Bermondsey warehouse conversion, to a solicitors' office packing down in Holborn over a Saturday. Different jobs, same approach: work out the access first, agree the price, then move the furniture.
Half of a Central London move is planning rather than lifting. Man and van in Central London: common questions
How much does a man and van cost in Central London?
It depends on the volume, the floor at each end and whether there is a lift, which is why we quote per job rather than publishing a table of rates. A single item collection and a two bedroom flat with a fourth floor walk-up are not the same job even if the postcodes are. Send the two addresses and the floors and you will have a figure back the same day.
Why fixed price rather than an hourly rate?
Because in central London the delays are structural rather than anyone's fault. A shared goods lift, a concierge at lunch, traffic on Victoria Street. On an hourly rate every one of those lands on your bill. On a fixed price they land on us, which is the right way round and gives us a reason to plan the access properly.
Is the Congestion Charge included?
Yes, along with fuel and the ULEZ. Where the charge applies to your move it is already inside the figure we quote. Nothing is added at the end.
Do you handle the parking and bay suspensions?
Yes. We check which authority controls each street and apply for a suspension where the job justifies it. The lead time is set by the council, and Westminster, Camden, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Southwark and Lambeth all want several working days, so this is the reason to book earlier rather than later.
Will you deal with my building concierge?
Yes, and it saves time if we do. Give us the contact and we will book the goods lift, confirm which entrance to use and file whatever insurance evidence the building wants on record. A move stalling in the lobby waiting for permission is the most avoidable delay there is.
How much notice do you need?
A small job can often be done within the same week. A full flat or house is better booked two to three weeks out, especially if a bay suspension is involved. End of month Fridays are the busiest slots in London and they go first.
