Man and Van in Southwark
Covering SE1 in Southwark. New-build blocks, estate flats and offices along Blackfriars Road. Fixed price agreed before we start, with the parking, the lift and the access sorted in advance.
Southwark has had more new residential building than almost any other part of central London, and the new blocks along Blackfriars Road and around the station are genuinely easy to move into. Loading bays, goods lifts, a concierge who does this weekly.
The older side is different. Estate blocks off Great Suffolk Street and the Victorian terraces towards Elephant have conventional access, permit parking outside, and stairs where the newer blocks have lifts. Both are ordinary jobs, they just take different amounts of time.
The buildings in Southwark
New-build apartment blocks with service infrastructure make up the growing share. Post-war estate blocks with lifts account for much of the rest and are straightforward. Victorian terraces converted into flats sit between the two, with narrow stairs and no lift. A handful of warehouse conversions near the river have shared goods lifts.
Parking, loading and access in Southwark
Southwark sits inside the Congestion Charge zone. Blackfriars Road, Southwark Bridge Road and Borough High Street carry restriction. Southwark Council controls the parking with controlled zones throughout SE1 and busy permit bays on weekdays. New developments have booked loading bays with height limits. Estate roads allow loading but not standing. For a full flat in the older stock a suspension is worth pricing.

Man and van in Southwark: common questions
How far ahead should I book a loading bay in a new block?
As soon as you have a moving date. Most Southwark developments allocate bays on a first come basis and the popular slots on Saturdays go early. Give us the building and we will make the booking, but the date needs deciding first.
Is Southwark inside the Congestion Charge zone?
Yes, this part of SE1 is inside the zone. The charge is already included in the price we give you, not added afterwards.
Do you do part loads and small moves?
Yes. A studio's worth of furniture or a few large items is a normal job, not something we turn down. The price reflects the size rather than being a minimum half day.
