Man and Van in Battersea: Removals Including Nine Elms
Covering SW11, SW8 in Wandsworth. Power Station and Nine Elms apartments, mansion flats on the park and Victorian terraces. Fixed price agreed before we start, with the parking, the lift and the access sorted in advance.
Battersea has two moving markets that barely overlap. Along the river, Battersea Power Station and the Nine Elms developments, Embassy Gardens, Circus West Village and the towers between them, are managed apartment buildings with concierge desks, service yards and booked lift slots. Inland, the mansion blocks on Prince of Wales Drive and the Victorian terraces south of Battersea Park Road are ordinary London flat moves with stairs and permit bays.
The riverside half is newer than a lot of maps. The streets around the Power Station have been built and opened in stages, and the Northern line extension added stations at Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms. We check the current access for each building rather than relying on a route planned from an old map. Battersea sits just across the river from Chelsea and Pimlico, and we cover it as part of our Central London area.
The buildings in Battersea
At Nine Elms and the Power Station the buildings are large managed apartment blocks with a loading dock or service yard, goods lifts and a concierge who needs the booking reference, usually with contractor documents sent in advance. Some service yards have height limits that rule out a Luton. On Prince of Wales Drive and around Battersea Park the red brick mansion blocks, Overstrand Mansions and Prince of Wales Mansions among them, have communal stairs and small lifts. South of Battersea Park Road the stock is Victorian terraces, many converted into flats, the small two storey cottages of the Shaftesbury Park Estate, and larger council estates such as the Doddington and Rollo estates with lift access.
Parking, loading and access in Battersea
Battersea is outside the Congestion Charge zone, and the ULEZ applies here as across London; where either applies to the route it is in the price. Wandsworth controls the public streets and most of them are in controlled parking zones, while the eastern end of Nine Elms towards Vauxhall is Lambeth. The Power Station and Nine Elms estates are privately managed, and the van goes where the loading booking puts it rather than to the front door. Queenstown Road, Battersea Park Road and Nine Elms Lane are busy through routes. Prince of Wales Drive has permit bays facing the park, and a suspension is often the cleanest option for a full flat. Moves across the river go over Chelsea Bridge or Battersea Bridge, because Albert Bridge has a weight limit that rules out a loaded van.

Man and van in Battersea: common questions
My building at the Power Station needs the loading dock booked. Can you do that?
Yes. Give us the building and the concierge or management contact and we will book the dock and the lift, and send whatever documents they ask for. Turning up without a slot at these buildings usually means waiting or being sent away, so we do not do it.
Will a Luton fit in my building's service yard?
Not always. Some Nine Elms buildings load from an underground yard with a height limit that a Luton will not clear. Tell us the building and we will check, and send a vehicle that fits even if that means an extra trip.
Is Battersea in the Congestion Charge zone?
No. The zone stops at the river. A move to Pimlico or Belgravia picks up the charge for that leg, while Chelsea is outside the zone too. Either way it is already in our price.
