Man and Van in Camden Town: Removals and Flat Moves
Covering NW1 in Camden. Victorian terrace flats, estate blocks and the market streets by the canal. Fixed price agreed before we start, with the parking, the lift and the access sorted in advance.
Camden Town is a residential area that happens to have one of London's busiest markets in the middle of it. Behind Camden High Street, on Albert Street, Arlington Road, Delancey Street and around Camden Square, flats and houses turn over steadily with renters, and those are most of the moves we do here.
The market is the variable. At weekends the stretch from the station up Chalk Farm Road to Camden Lock fills with visitors, and the canal side streets around Hawley Crescent and Jamestown Road become slow to drive and slower to load. A Saturday move off Parkway is perfectly workable, but we plan the approach around the crowds rather than straight through them.
The buildings in Camden Town
Early and mid Victorian terraces make up most of the stock, three and four storeys, converted into flats with narrow stairs and often a basement flat down front steps. Albert Street and Arlington Road have some of the most handsome of them and some of the tightest staircases. There are large council estates, around Agar Grove among other places, with lifts and wide landings, and warehouse and canal-side conversions near Camden Lock and Oval Road with shared lifts and gated entrances. Newer blocks around the edges have concierge desks and booked lifts.
Parking, loading and access in Camden Town
Camden Town is outside the Congestion Charge zone, which begins at Euston Road, though the ULEZ applies here as it does across London; where either applies to the route it is in the price. Camden controls the parking, and controlled hours vary between zones, so we check the signs for your street rather than assuming. The one-way system around Camden Road, Camden Street and Kentish Town Road takes some planning, and Camden High Street and Chalk Farm Road carry buses and heavy pedestrian traffic. We load from side streets such as Pratt Street, Bayham Street or Delancey Street and book a Camden suspension for a full flat or house move. The Regent's Canal crosses the area with only a handful of road bridges, which matters when the two addresses are on opposite sides of it.

Man and van in Camden Town: common questions
Can you do a Saturday move near the market?
Yes, with an early start. The crowds around the station, Camden Lock and Chalk Farm Road build through the morning, so we aim to have the van loaded before they peak. Addresses a few streets back, off Parkway or around Camden Square, are much less affected.
My flat is in the basement, down steps from the pavement. Is that a problem?
It is common here and it is fine, but it affects the big pieces. Front area steps are steep and the door at the bottom is often narrower than a normal front door. Measure anything large, send us the figures, and we will tell you whether it goes through whole.
Is Camden Town in the Congestion Charge zone?
No. The zone starts at Euston Road, south of here. A move into central London picks up the charge for that leg, and it is already in the figure we quote.
