Do you only cover the routes listed here?
No. These are the corridors we run often enough to write something useful about. We move anywhere in the country from Central London, and anywhere within it. If your destination is not here, ask: the price will be worked out the same way and the only difference is that we have not written the page yet.
How is a long distance move priced?
As a dedicated van and crew for your move alone, loaded in London and unloaded at the far end on the date you booked. The figure covers the crew, the vehicle, the fuel, the mileage and the Congestion Charge on the London leg. There is no per mile addition and no charge appearing at the end.
Do you do part loads or shared vans?
No. A part load is cheaper, often by around forty per cent, because your things share the van with someone else's and you get a delivery window of several days instead of a date. It is a reasonable option for a small load with a flexible timetable, and it is not what we sell. Everything we quote is a fixed date and a fixed figure.
Is a long distance move done in one day?
Up to about two hundred miles, yes for anything up to a three bedroom house. Beyond that, and on larger houses, we load one day and unload the next, with your things staying in the locked van overnight under our goods in transit insurance. Edinburgh is always two days. It is quoted as one job with one figure either way.
Why are some short moves more expensive than longer ones?
Because in Central London the carrying is the job and the driving is the gap between two lots of carrying. A fourth floor walk-up in Shoreditch to a fourth floor in Hackney, two miles apart, costs more than a ground floor flat moving nine miles to a house with a driveway. We price the access, not the mileage.
What is not included?
Full packing unless you book it alongside, and council bay suspensions at either end, which we pass on at exactly what the council charged. Everything else, including stairs, waiting time, fuel, mileage and the Congestion Charge, is inside the figure you agree before we start.
