Bermondsey is the best warehouse conversion stock in London and the most variable access. Shad Thames and the wharf buildings by the river have narrow cobbled streets, overhead walkways between buildings, and goods lifts that range from generous to almost useless. Which building you are in changes the job completely.
Inland it is more conventional: estate blocks off Jamaica Road with lifts, terraces around Bermondsey Street that are ordinary conversions, and newer developments with proper loading arrangements.

Converted wharf and warehouse buildings along the river, with exposed brick, heavy timber and shared goods lifts of wildly varying size. Some take furniture comfortably, some take four boxes and a person. Post-war estate blocks inland have conventional lifts. Bermondsey Street and the surrounding terraces are ordinary conversions with narrow stairs.
Parking, loading and access in Bermondsey
Bermondsey sits outside the Congestion Charge zone. Jamaica Road and Tower Bridge Road are the restricted main routes. Southwark controls the parking. Shad Thames and the wharf streets are narrow, cobbled and often single lane, with overhead walkways limiting height in places. A Luton is frequently the wrong vehicle there. The riverside walk is pedestrian only. We check the individual building before quoting because the variation between them is greater than anywhere else in the area.

Can a van get down Shad Thames?
A smaller one, yes. A Luton is a poor choice: the street is narrow, cobbled, and the overhead walkways between buildings limit height at several points. We bring a transit and do an extra run rather than getting wedged, and that is priced in from the start.
My warehouse building has a very small goods lift. What then?
More trips and probably some dismantling. Wharf building lifts vary enormously and some will not take a sofa at all. Send us the lift dimensions or a photo when you ask for a price so the time we allow is realistic.
Is Bermondsey inside the Congestion Charge zone?
No, it sits outside. Only a leg of your move that enters the zone attracts the charge, and it is already included in the quoted figure.
