Marylebone moves are rarely about distance. A flat on Weymouth Street to a flat on Devonshire Place is a walk of four minutes, but between the two sits a porter who wants notice, a lift with a stated weight limit, and a resident bay that has to be booked before anything comes down. Marylebone Road and part of Baker Street are red routes, so there is no legal stopping on them at all and we load from a side street instead. Where there is no bay within carrying distance we apply to Westminster for a suspension, which needs several working days of notice. Can you park outside a mansion block on Weymouth Street or Devonshire Place?
Only if there is a bay free or we have a suspension in place. Both streets are Westminster controlled parking, so a van left on a single yellow during the working day will be ticketed. Tell us the address when you ask for a price and we will check what is available and whether a suspension is worth the cost for the size of the job.
The porter says the lift has a weight limit. Is that a problem?
Not usually. Most Marylebone service lifts take a sofa on its end and a stack of boxes without complaint. What catches people out is a wardrobe or a long dining table that will not fit diagonally, which then has to come down the stairs. If you tell us the awkward pieces in advance we bring the right crew rather than discovering it on the day.
Do you charge extra for the Congestion Charge?
