Pimlico is Westminster controlled parking throughout and the grid of stucco terraces around Cambridge Street, Warwick Way and Tachbrook Street usually has resident bays we can use, which makes it easier than most of Westminster. The mansion blocks, Dolphin Square in particular, have service lifts and porters who want notice, and the lift is worth booking. The stucco terraces themselves have raised ground floors with external steps and basement flats with their own staircase, both of which add a crew member. Clapham is Lambeth and it is Victorian conversions almost throughout. The streets around Abbeville Road, Clapham Manor and off the Old Town have front gardens, a step or two to the door and a staircase that turns at the half landing. Resident bays are common on the side streets and worth having; Clapham High Street, Clapham Common Northside and the South Circular are not places to load. The newer blocks near Clapham North and towards Wandsworth Road have lifts and are the easy version. Lambeth runs the suspension process at this end and Westminster at the other, so a move needing both is two applications.
The journey
Vauxhall Bridge then the South Lambeth Road and Clapham Road, or Chelsea Bridge and Queenstown Road if the destination is nearer the Common. Both are about three and a half miles and both are slow at the bridge approaches in the peak.
Vauxhall Cross is the pinch point on the eastern route and the Queenstown Road junction on the western one. We pick based on the exact destination rather than by default, and either way the price does not move with the traffic.
Mansion block out, conversion in
The Pimlico end is often the easy one, which is the reverse of most routes on this list. A service lift and a porter who has been told in advance turns a two bedroom flat into a straightforward morning. The blocks want the lift booked and the floor protected, and we handle both.
The Clapham end is where the day gets longer. A first floor conversion with a turning staircase and a front garden step is two crew minimum, three where there are wardrobes. Tell us the floor and we will size the crew for it rather than sending two people and hoping.

Pimlico is Westminster and Clapham is Lambeth. Where both ends need a suspended bay that is two separate applications, two fees and two lead times, each running to several working days.
We handle both and pass each through at what the council charged. What we need is the exact address at each end early enough to apply inside the lead time, which on this route means a fortnight rather than a few days if suspensions are involved.

Do you need to book the lift in a Pimlico mansion block?
