Loading in Whitechapel
Whitechapel loading is a Tower Hamlets problem throughout. Whitechapel Road itself is busy, bus-heavy and impossible to stand on during market hours, and the side streets off it are controlled parking with very few free bays in the working day. The terraces around Stepney and the blocks off Commercial Road mostly have no lift above the fourth floor, and several of the ex-council blocks have a car park that is a genuine walk from the entrance. We check the bay position and the floor before quoting, and where the street has nothing we apply to Tower Hamlets for a suspension.

Stratford unloading depends entirely on which Stratford you are moving to. The Olympic Park blocks in East Village and around Chobham Manor are managed estates: you book a loading bay slot and a goods lift with the estate office, usually two to five working days ahead, and the crew signs in at a security desk. Those buildings are excellent to move into once booked and impossible to move into without booking. The older Stratford streets towards Maryland and Forest Gate are ordinary Newham controlled parking with resident bays. The towers around the Broadway and Stratford Centre are somewhere in between, with a service lift and a management company who want a certificate of insurance before the day.
The journey
Mile End Road into Bow Road, which is the A11 the whole way and the only sensible line. It is a wide road with bus lanes and it moves reasonably outside the peak, but the Bow flyover and roundabout at the far end is the pinch point and it is a bad one between four and seven.
The alternative through Bethnal Green and Old Ford is longer in distance and often shorter in time in the evening. Neither route touches the Congestion Charge zone boundary in a way that adds to your bill, since the charge is inside our figure either way.
The estate booking, and why it decides your date
If you are moving into East Village, Chobham Manor or any of the managed blocks around the park, the estate office controls when your move can happen far more than we do. They allocate loading bay slots, they want the goods lift booked, and several of them will not allow moves at weekends or during certain hours.
Ring them the day you get your completion or tenancy date, not the week of the move. We will send our public liability and goods in transit certificates directly to the managing agent, which is the other thing they will ask for and the most common reason a crew gets turned away at the barrier.
What a four mile move actually costs you in time
The drive is twenty minutes each way outside the peak. On a two bedroom flat needing two runs, that is eighty minutes of driving across the day, which is enough to matter and not enough to change the vehicle.
What does change the vehicle is the loading bay at the Stratford end. Several of the park blocks have a height restriction on the underground bay, and a Luton will not go in. We check that when you give us the address, bring a transit and do the extra run, and it is inside the price from the start rather than discovered at the barrier.

Is the Congestion Charge included?
Yes. Whitechapel sits on the edge of the zone and the charge is inside the figure we quote rather than added afterwards. It rose to £18 a day in January 2026 and it is one of the lines other firms are most likely to bill you for separately.
Can you move me at the weekend?
From Whitechapel, yes. Into several of the Olympic Park blocks, no, because the estates restrict moves to weekdays and to set hours. Check with the estate office before you commit to a Saturday, and expect a weekday to be cheaper anyway.
