The Camden Lock railway bridge across Chalk Farm Road, with the market shopfronts running down either side towards Camden Town, a short walk from Ifor Evans Hall.

Moving in and out of Ifor Evans Hall

from £120

Every figure includes VAT.

Ifor Evans Hall is the catered hall on the 109 Camden Road site, which it shares with Max Rayne House and three other UCL buildings behind one reception. It sits well away from the Bloomsbury campus, and that distance is the reason it is one of the easier UCL halls to bring a van to: UCL tells arrivals to enter from Camden Road to unload, which is more than most central halls can offer.

Loading and parking

Camden Road is a main road with heavy traffic and buses, and stopping on it to unload would be the wrong answer, so the useful fact is that UCL directs arrivals to enter the site from Camden Road and unload there. Check-in for every building on the site is at the 109 Camden Road reception. The site is several buildings in grounds rather than one tower, so the carry is from the van to the right block and then to the room, and UCL notes that the lifts on the site do not reach every floor.

One reception for five buildings

The 109 Camden Road site holds Ifor Evans Hall, Max Rayne House, Ann Stephenson House, Neil Sharp House and Denys Holland House, and on the September weekend all of them check in at the same desk. The site entrance is the shared resource here, so the slot you book on the UCL portal is worth keeping to even though there is more room than on a Bloomsbury street.

Tell us which building and which block you are in rather than just the address. From the reception to a room at the far side of the grounds is a longer walk than people expect, and the right building decides where the van stops.

Catered rooms on corridors

The undergraduate rooms at Ifor Evans are catered singles along corridors, sharing bathrooms and small kitchens. Because meals are provided, a full set of pans is weight you carry in September and carry out in June, though a kettle and a mug are worth their place in a shared kitchen.

Being a couple of miles from the main campus changes the end of term too. Most people here are not moving a few streets to a Bloomsbury flat but across London or to an airport, which makes an airport run or a storage booking the more common June job than a short local move.

Worth knowing

  • Enter the site from Camden Road to unload, as UCL directs, rather than stopping on the main road
  • Give us your building and block as well as the address, since the site holds five buildings
  • Check in at the 109 Camden Road reception before carrying anything to the room
  • Leave the pans at home: the undergraduate rooms are catered
  • Say if you need a lift, because not every floor on the site has one

Ifor Evans Hall: common questions

How much does it cost to move into Ifor Evans Hall?

A single room is £150 to £340 including VAT, most around £220, covering the crew, the van, the wrapping, the fuel and the Congestion Charge. A run from Camden Road to Heathrow or Gatwick at the end of term is £120 to £260.

Can you park outside Ifor Evans Hall?

Not on Camden Road itself, which is a busy main road. UCL tells arrivals to enter the site from Camden Road and unload there, which is the easiest unloading arrangement of any UCL hall we work at. Outside the arrival weekend we confirm with reception before the day.

Is Ifor Evans Hall catered?

Yes, the undergraduate single rooms are catered, with shared bathrooms and small kitchens along the corridors. Kitchen equipment beyond a kettle and a mug is mostly weight you carry in and out again.

Is Ifor Evans Hall the same place as Max Rayne House?

Same site, different building. Both are at 109 Camden Road and both check in at the same reception, but Ifor Evans is the catered undergraduate hall and Max Rayne is self-catered and mainly postgraduate. Tell us which you are in when you book.

Do you do the summer storage run from Camden Road?

Yes, £280 to £620 for both legs, out in June and back in September, quoted together because it is cheaper than booking twice. You pay the storage facility directly; we do not hold goods ourselves.
